Bio

As a Mexican-American sound artist from the southside of Chicago, who grew up wedged between sonically rich cultures, Horacio Lopez has sought new modes of connection through combining musical forms and mediums and identifying hybridity. Whether working in sound or video, Lopez’s interests have developed from his early musical learning with the tenor saxophone, the expansiveness of sound in a visual art setting, and his wider sociological interests that create a synergy to his practice. Currently, he has been exploring the deconstruction of tenor saxophone playing through pitch-modifiying and loop processing. You can view his most recent performances here

Horacio Lopez currently lives in Brooklyn, NYC. He is currently an MFA candidate for the Sonic Arts program at Brooklyn College.
